Activities in School

In Vallamkulam National High School, the Scout Unit of Bharat Scouts and Guides started its activities in 2010. Manoj Kumar, a teacher of this school as a Scout Master, left for the basic course at the Palot State Head Quarters, Thiruvananthapuram in 2010. After that, in 2012, after passing the advanced course, the unit was started. The activities of the last 10 years have been successful in creating awareness of social service activities in children. Many children have passed the Rajya Puraskar examination and won the Rajya Puraskar award. Since the year of its inception, the unit has been carrying out the service activities that are the hallmark of Scouts at the school level and socially. The amount collected by the children of the 2014 unit was given to a child of this school who is economically backward. Every year, Gandhi Jayanti is observed as a week-long service week and various art and sports programs in the school are organized with the help of cadets. In 2016, the scout cadets of this school provided service activities in the state program in Thiruvalla. In 2016, a Guides Unit was started under the leadership of Sreelakshmi Teacher and after that another Guide Unit was started under the leadership of Suja V Pillai. This year, the unit actively participated in the house construction of a child who is a Rajapuraskar Scout. The Scout and Guides Thiruvalla District Association and the former students of the school, Scout Cadets, handed over an amount to the HM of the school for the house construction being carried out under the leadership of PTA. The scout unit of this school is moving forward with its activities by keeping in mind the motto ‘BE PREPARED’. Our children participate in all the programs conducted by the Scout and Guide State Office. In 2013-14, 6 Scout Cadets participated in the State Campori held at Vellayani Agricultural College, Thrissur. In this program, which is held every three years, 6 participated in the State Campori held in Cherthala in 2019. These children are now preparing for the Rajya Puraskar examination. The children are doing a project work called Kitchen Garden. Last year, cabbage seedlings were grown with the cooperation of the Agriculture Department. Thus, the activities of the National High School Scout and Guide Unit are going ahead actively. In the 2020-21 academic year, National High School became the venue for the Rajya Puraskar Testing Camp of the Thiruvalla Educational District. Scout Cadets Sayanesh, Shyam T Shaji, Vijay Sathish, Nandu S Panicker and Adarsh ​​participated in the state level Rajya Puraskar examination held this year. Best Cadet Scout Wing Sayanesh AS, Gauri Krishna also won in Guides. Scout and Guide children planted saplings in their homes on Environment Day and shared Environment Day messages online. Scout and Guide children are taking online classes and providing activities twice a month. Madhav Menon from the Scout section and Devika Rajesh from the Guide section participated in the activity called Kuttikkoro Library under the vision 2021 project of Bharat Scout and Guides.The Rajapuraskar examination for the year 2021-22 was held at MSHSS School, Ranni on January 8. 8 guides appeared in the examination held that day.
