School Facilities
School Library
Our school has a library with modern facilities. Children have the facility to sit and read books there. A spacious reading room has been set up there. About eight thousand books have been set up in the library. There is a collection of language-related and science-related books. Stories, poems, novels, biographies, and study aids have been categorized and glass shelves have been set up so that children can easily take them. We have a smart library with a TV and a projector, along with this we have a digital library. We also have a digital lab. Every year, on June 19, in connection with the Reading Day, books are given to children in the classrooms from the library and a reading week is celebrated.
Computer Lab
There is also an extensive computer lab. It has desktops and laptops equipped for the children. High-speed internet facility and broadband internet facility are available in the lab. Lab activities are being carried out as per it@School guidelines. Teachers are using these facilities to manage the lessons in an ICT-based manner. Printer, scanner, projector, web cams, and DSLR camera are arranged in the computer lab.
Atal Tinkering Lab
Our school, which has enlightened generations, is also starting the operation of a lab with modern systems. In line with the educational thoughts of the new era, extracurricular activities have been scientifically organized. The Atal Tinkering Lab started its operation at National High School by including it in the NITI Aayog project of the Central Government with the aim of molding 12 lakh young scientific talents in 2019. . The work of this lab is to impart new concepts in science, artificial intelligence, mathematics, biotechnology, and engineering, such as robotics and artificial intelligence, to children. Equipment for implementing different technologies such as robotic tool kits, 3D printer drones, biotechnology, biomedical agri tech, etc. is being prepared here. Vallamkulam National High School is one of the few schools in the country to be selected for the Atal Tinkering Lab.
Science Lab
The necessary chemicals and equipment have been specially arranged to conduct experiments related to chemistry, energy, and biology and to enhance the children’s scientific aptitude. Facilities have been arranged for children to experiment in the laboratory and observe and understand chemical changes. A spacious classroom has been arranged for conducting experiments in the laboratory, and a place for cleaning hands afterwards. For children to see and learn about biology, the lab has been equipped with skeletons, ostrich eggs, cells, snakes preserved in chemical mixtures, models of the heart, kidneys, teeth, spine, etc., different types of larvae, and charts.
School Auditorium
A spacious auditorium, which can seat more than 1000 people at a time, has been arranged at the front of the school, along with the necessary chairs. The necessary electrical arrangements in the auditorium have also been made and a spacious stage made of pillars with paintings has also been prepared.
Play Areas
The school has three types of grounds for sports activities. A small ground is located opposite the school, adjacent to the society building. Primary physical education for children in the school’s health education period is conducted here.
Secondly, the main ground is located five hundred meters away from the school. It is a large ground that can accommodate a two hundred meter athletic track, and the gate is partially formed by small surrounding walls.
Thirdly, the construction of an indoor basketball court with a large stage in front of the school is progressing, and the construction is being done in a way that will allow for competitive events such as judo and rollball.
